The Economic Development Department (EDD) is pleased to announce the return of the fourth Annual Fintech Training Programme. The 2025 cohort will begin on 2 June and conclude on 22 August. Bermudians interested in receiving funding to take part are encouraged to register by the reimbursement deadline of 9 May 2025.
The Programme offers a practical, accessible path for Bermudians to gain key skills and insights in the fast-changing world of fintech and emerging technologies. Led by the EDD in collaboration with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and supported by international partners and local industry leaders, the Programme reaffirms the Government’s commitment to preparing the local workforce for opportunities in the global digital economy.
The Programme has three core elements to be completed at the same time.
- Online Fintech Curriculum
Participants will complete a self-paced, online course from a global fintech curriculum. Topics include blockchain, artificial intelligence, open banking, and digital payments, offering foundational understanding and exposure to cutting-edge developments in the field.
- Soft Skills Training by DWD
Delivered by the Department of Workforce Development (DWD), these modules focus on real-world professional readiness. Participants will explore critical areas such as cybersecurity awareness, project management, and digital citizenship.
- Bi-weekly Industry Webinars
The third component is a series of mandatory webinars featuring Bermuda-based professionals working in fintech and related sectors. These sessions allow participants to hear directly from industry experts, ask questions, and grow their professional networks.
The Programme continues to be powered by two international education providers: the Centre for Finance, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) and ViableEdu, as well as others.
CFTE, a global leader in fintech education, has expanded its course offerings to include nano-learning modules to give learners flexible, bite-sized access to fintech topics. Co-founder Tram Anh Nguyen shared: “We’re excited to continue working with Bermuda to deliver relevant, future-focused training. This year’s Programme builds on our strong foundation to provide an even more accessible curriculum, and we remain committed to supporting the next generation of fintech talent.”
ViableEdu, specialising in fintech, electronic trading, and capital markets, also renewed its partnership with the Government of Bermuda for 2025. Joel Brown-Christenson, Co-Founder and Head of Programming at ViableEdu, added: “ViableEdu is excited to partner once again with the Economic Development Department of Bermuda. Our most recent work together was to accompany 8 Bermudians through the Finance to Fintech Programme, over one intense month that required them to attend several meetings a week. They all successfully completed the Programme and we’re very impressed. As we get ready for the 2025 summer Programme, we continue to prize this joint effort to help democratise access to virtual financial education and tech training for those who are looking to enter the rapidly growing fintech industry.”
Minister of Economy & Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP, commented: “We remain committed to expanding Bermuda’s fintech ecosystem through education, partnerships, and a strong regulatory framework. Investing in our people creates a future-ready workforce ready to engage with a digital-first economy.”
