The Ministry of Economy and Labour, in partnership with Endeavour and the Bermuda College Athora Division of Professional and Career Education, is proud to recognise the successful completion of the 2025 Maritime Career Springboard Programme.
At a commencement ceremony held on September 25, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP, Minister of Economy and Labour, congratulated participants for their achievements throughout the intensive seven-week training and career development initiative.
Minister Hayward stated, "Today we celebrate the accomplishments of each participant for successfully completing this rigorous programme. You have earned internationally recognised certifications, strengthened your employability skills, and gained the confidence and practical experience needed to thrive in Bermuda's maritime industry and beyond. I commend your commitment and determination and encourage you to carry forward the skills you have gained as you embark on the next chapter of your journey."
The Programme provided graduates with a wide range of professional certifications, including sailing and powerboat instruction, marine first aid, and radio communication. Participants also benefited from mentorship, interactive career days, and workshops focused on employability skills such as résumé writing, interview preparation, and professional networking.
Beyond technical training, the Programme emphasised life skills including teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and leadership, attributes that will serve participants in maritime careers or any field they choose to pursue.
The 2025 graduates are now well-prepared for employment opportunities in Bermuda's maritime industry, which includes superyachts, watersports, shipping, logistics, and marine & ports services. Their internationally recognised qualifications also open doors to more than 2,500 training schools worldwide, from the Mediterranean and Caribbean to Asia and the Middle East.
Minister Hayward added, "The Maritime Career Springboard Programme is a prime example of how partnerships between government, educational institutions, and industry stakeholders can expand opportunities for Bermudians while strengthening our workforce and economy. The horizon is wide open for these graduates, and I wish them every success."
Endeavour’s Executive Director, Jennifer Pitcher, stated: “We are grateful for the Ministry of Economy and Labour’s steadfast support and partnership, which helps Endeavour equip young Bermudians with hands-on maritime training and career development opportunities. Together, we are empowering Bermuda's youth with the skills and confidence to thrive in the maritime industry and beyond."
The Ministry of Economy and Labour congratulates the 2025 graduates and commends Endeavour, Bermuda College, and all instructors and mentors for their dedication and support, which have been vital to the Programme's success.
